5 tips to get to the gym and stay there

I have been regularly going to the gym for about two months, so I know I’m no expert. But, since going I realized some things in me. Sometimes getting to the gym is the hardest part, but sometimes staying at the gym is the hardest part. I get in my head and think about all these other things I need to go or I get straight up bored. I decided to make a post feature some tips to help get you to the gym and some tips to help you stay there! Again I am no expert this is just what I found works for me!

First things first, getting to the gym is easy if you just get up and go. Don’t worry about doing anything before you go- it’ll be there when you come back. Just go. That was my hardest problem, I would start doing other stuff (or start Netflix) and then I would never end up leaving.

Write down the days you want to hit the gym so then you can visually see it. It’s there in black ink and for me it’s motivation to want to go. Seeing it there and knowing I planned it for that day helps me see how important it is to go on that day.

Now that you’re at the gym, it’s time to workout and keep ya there! Some days I’ll be honest, I get bored and just want to leave and sometimes I do just leave. But having a good Spotify station or podcast to listen to really helps keep me motivated. For me, the music will sometimes not work I get bored listening to music, but once I found a podcast that I liked I’ll put one of those suckers on and I’m set. The fact that the conversation is constantly moving helps me focus on the podcast and not get bored. I’ve been listening to Gilmore Guys reaction to “A Year in the Life” recently, but there are some other podcasts that I love:

  • Straight up with Stassi: and honestly I only listen to this one because of Vanderpump rules.
  • TedTalks Audio podcast. It is so interesting to listen to!
  • Stuff mom never told you: it gives an interesting perspective life!
  • Passion city church has such great messages that are perfect for any pick me up. I love Louie Gigllio!
  • Proverbs 31 ministry is so uplifting and gives me a refresh and recharge that I need.

I set a timer on my phone for however long I want to work out for and I don’t stop until it goes off. It also helps me to know ok I have 10 minutes now let’s make it worth it.

If you want it you’ll work for it. Just keep your head up and persevere. You will always be happier after you went rather than happier you skipped. But don’t fret if you miss a day, there’s always tomorrow! Let me know if you have any other tips for me! Leave me some tips on the comments below!
